After experiencing the magic of Swedish Lapland in summer, we knew we had to return in winter—and it exceeded all our expectations. The pristine snowy landscapes, frozen rivers, and the serene silence of the Arctic captivated us. But the true highlight of our journey was witnessing the Northern Lights dance across the sky, a breathtaking spectacle that left us in awe. Mushing is a sport or transport method powered by dogs. It includes carting, pulka, dog scootering, sled dog racing, skijoring, freighting, and weight pulling. More specifically, it implies the use of one or more dogs to pull a sled, most commonly a specialized type of dog sled on snow, or a rig on dry land.

With temperatures in the stratosphere being so low, water particles transform into tiny ice crystals in the air. As the sun dips below the horizon, its rays hit the crystals and refract, scattering the light into colorful, luminescent displays.

Lannavaara is a small village by the Lainio River, 200 km North of the Arctic Circle. Only 80 people live in the village year round and reindeer herding is the most common occupation. Aurora Mountain Lodge is located near the mountains of Lapland.

Polar stratospheric clouds (PSCs) are  cloudsin the winter polar stratosphere at altitudes of 15,000–25,000 m (49,000–82,000 ft). They are best observed during twilight, when the Sun is between 1 and 6 degrees below the horizon, as well as in winter and in more northerly latitudes.

Auroras occur when these charged particles launched along Earth's magnetic field collide with gases in Earth's upper atmosphere. Those collisions produce tiny flashes that fill the sky with colourful light.

Two hundred kilometres north of the Arctic Circle, you’ll find the world-famous Icehotel. Each icy room is an art installation showcasing the designs of some of the world’s most talented artists. For more than 35 years, the hotel – located in the village of Jukkasjärvi – has expanded to become a year-round hub for outdoor activities and inspired dining experiences.
